The 411 on Starting Solids
- Most families start solids between 4 and 6 months of age – be sure to continue to provide breast milk / formula feedings until your babe is at least one.
- Simple purees like Little Spoon’s Butternut Squash, Zucchini, or Mango blends are perfect for first bites.
- Many parents introduce new ingredients on a weekday, in the morning, so that if there is an allergic reaction, they can quickly get to the pediatrician.
- It’s important to introduce your mini two a variety of flavors and texture, particularly in the first 18 months of life. Once your babe is ready, Little Spoon has fantastic complex blends like Blueberry Chickepea Spinach Pear Rosemary to help build a future foodie.
- Repeat exposure is key to a successful solids journey. It can take up to 15 tries for a baby to accept a new food, so don’t feel discouraged if your babe seems hesitant at first.
